Information We Collect
When you create an account, we collect your email address and password (stored securely). When you submit a review, we collect information about your rental experience including move-in/move-out dates, ratings, and written feedback.
How We Protect Your Privacy
- Fuzzy dates: We only display the season and year of your tenancy (e.g., "Fall 2024"), never exact dates.
- Anonymous reviews: Your email and identity are never displayed publicly with your reviews.
- Secure storage: Your credentials and all data are stored securely.
- No selling data: We never sell your personal information to third parties.
How We Use Your Information
- To display anonymous reviews to help other tenants
- To calculate aggregate ratings for buildings and landlords
- To contact you about your account or reviews if necessary
- To prevent fraud and abuse of the platform
Cookies
We use essential cookies to keep you logged in and maintain your session. We do not use tracking cookies or share data with advertisers.
Public Records
Some building pages show public government records, such as property assessment, building permit, violation, code enforcement, and 311 data published by the City of Boston. We show these records as they were recorded, with the date we retrieved them and a link to the source dataset.
- Owner of record: shown as the city publishes it.
- Mailing addresses: When the owner of record is an individual we do not show the mailing address. When an entity's mailing address names a person, including a care-of line, we omit that name and show only the street and city.
- Reporting a record error: Reporting a record error stores your description and, only if you give one, an email address. The rate limiter that protects the form keeps your IP address for one hour, as it does for every public form on the site, and nothing else about you is kept.
- Requesting a building's records: Pressing "Get this building's city records" stores the building and the time of the request, not who pressed it. The rate limiter that protects the button keeps your IP address for one hour, as it does for every public form on the site.
Your Rights
You can request to delete your account and all associated reviews at any time by contacting us. You can also update your email address through your account settings.
